Letter to the Missionaries 10-14-12

Letter from President Alba

Our commission – under the direction of the Savior

Dear fellow missionaries,

I want to testify to each one of you that the work we are involved in is the work of God.  He has commissioned each of us to unitedly serve Him at this time here in the California Santa Rosa Mission.  What a great joy it is for Kathie and I to be serving along side each of you.  I can testify that the Lord is serving right along side with us as well.

The Lord Jesus Christ has sacrificed all for the welfare of all of Father’s children and He would invite all of us to return to live with Him and enjoy the blessings of exaltation at His side.  There is nothing better that we could be doing with our lives than serving Him at this time right here.

He has declared that this gospel be taught to all nations.   In Matthew 29:18-20, He commanded His disciples and charged them with this calling:  “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.  Amen.”

In the Doctrine and Covenants he declares the following:  “And your whole labor shall be in Zion, with all your soul, from henceforth; yea, you shall ever open your mouth in my cause, not fearing what man can do, for I am with you.  Amen.  (D&C 30:11.

Is there any doubt that if we labor with all our soul and open our mouths in his cause that He would ever leave us by ourselves?

Later in section 31:13 He states: “Be faithful unto the end, and lo, I am with you.  These words are not of man nor of men, but of me, even Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, by the will of the Father. Amen”

We must also exercise great faith unto the end – What He has spoken is truth and we must have the necessary faith that He will never abandon us – specially at the hour of our need.  In regards to our faithfulness, later in D&C 61:10 He declares:  “And in as much as they are faithful they shall be preserved, and I, the Lord, will be with them.”  Again, we must be faithful!

What does that mean?  The dictionary offers this description:

1.  strict or thorough in the performance of duty: a faithful worker.

2.  true to one's word, promises, vows, etc.

3.  steady in allegiance or affection; loyal; constant: faithful friends.

4.  reliable, trusted, or believed.

5.  adhering or true to fact, a standard, or an original; accurate: a faithful account; a faithful copy.

Can we be strict and thorough in our performance as we represent He whose name we carry in our hearts?

Can we be true to our word and the promises (covenants) and vows we have made with Him?

Can we be steady in our allegiance or affection?   Can we be constant and steady?

Can the Lord count on our loyalty and can he count us to be reliable, trusted and believed?

Are we also adhering or true to the standard that we bear?  Can we be accurate in our teaching His children?

If we are to remain faithful we must have these characteristics as true believers and followers of Christ – then He promises that if we are – faithful – He will be with us.  There is no denying this – of this I am sure.

Then comes a great promise to those of us who are faithful – “Behold, the kingdom is yours.  And behold, and lo, I am with the faithful always.  Even so.  Amen.”  (D&C 62:9)

Again that word – faithful!  Can we do this even though we may be turned away by almost everyone we meet?  Can we do this even though we may face opposition, discouragement, home sickness, rejection, etc.?

We must, we must and we will.

“Brethren (and sisters are included), shall we not go on in so great a cause?  Go forward and not backward.  Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory!  Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad.  Let the earth break forth into singing.  Let the dead speak forth anthem of eternal praise to the King Immanuel, who hath ordained, before the world was, that which would enable us to redeem them out of their prison; for the prisoners shall go free.”

Let the amountains shout for joy, and all ye valleys cry aloud; and all ye seas and dry lands tell the wonders of your Eternal King! And ye rivers, and brooks, and rills, flow down with gladness. Let the woods and all the trees of the field praise the Lord; and ye solid brocks weep for joy! And let the sun, moon, and the cmorning stars sing together, and let all the sons of God shout for joy! And let the eternal creations declare his name forever and ever! And again I say, how glorious is the voice we hear from heaven, proclaiming in our ears, glory, and salvation, and honor, and dimmortality, and eternal life; kingdoms, principalities, and powers!

Behold, the great aday of the Lord is at hand; and who can babide the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appeareth? For he is like a crefiner’s dfire, and like fuller’s soap; and he shall sit as a erefiner and purifier of silver, and he shall purify the sons of fLevi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an goffering in righteousness. Let us, therefore, as a church and a people, and as Latter-day Saints, offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness; and let us present in his holy temple, when it is finished, a book containing the hrecords of our dead, which shall be worthy of all acceptation.”  (D&C 128 22-24)

Let us remain faithful – the Lord is aware of our offering and when it’s offered in righteousness – He will honor those who honor Him and He will bless those faithful followers of Christ – after all we can do.

Believe in the Miracle!

Love to all,

President Alba

Letter to the Missionaries 10-7-12

Letter to the Missionaries 10-7-12

Wow… and wow again!  What an amazing conference and what an incredible announcement concerning MISSIONARY WORK!  Can this be part of our answer to the ‘Windows of Heaven”’ opening?  Yes it is.  Can this be part of the way that we will be able to reach our goal of 101?  Yes it is. Can you imagine our royal army swelling in numbers, covering more area, touching more lives, and the adding of more faith in finding by way of more missionaries on their knees in prayer morning and night and then going forward in actions?  Yes I can. Let us all thank our Heavenly Father for this great miracle that we are a part of.  Are we on the brink of something?  Yes we are and the Lord has heard us and is now showing us all how it can and will happen.

We must all prepare now to receive the new missionaries that will come to us.

Please begin by praying that we will receive MANY… AS MANY AS THEY CAN SEND US.

Pray that they who are coming will consecrate their time here unto the Lord.

Pray that you will know how you can be ready to receive them.

We will need many more trainers.  Are you ready?

Pray that we will receive these missionaries a quickly as possible.

Our living situations may need to be adjusted and perhaps not so comfortable… Is it worth it?  Of course!  It is part of our miracle.

It may mean that many more are on bicycles… YAY!!!! We will all be more physically fit!

Does it mean that we will need to sacrifice more?  Yes it does, ‘faith precedes the miracle’… ‘sacrifice calls down the angels’.  We will be surrounded, we already are.

What and exciting and amazing time for you to be on your mission.  Please write in your journals about your feelings and pray to understand your part in this.  If you still doubt, the time to believe is now. Do not wait.  Do not miss the opportunity to be at the forefront of the army.  The new missionaries that will come to us will be younger, fresher, but also needing you to stand as examples like never before. They will need YOU.  Without your strong and steadfast faith they will flounder. So from this moment forward, no matter how long you have left to serve we must all raise ourselves up to meet the challenge, the gift we have been handed by the Lord.  He is sending us help in a way that has never, ever been done before.

It is not a coincidence that you are serving at this time. Step up and be more that you have ever been.  Join in preparing for the changes that will quickly come. Prepare yourselves.  Pray more.  Study harder.  Forget yourselves. Work as you have never worked before.  Be positive.  Generate happiness. Show the light of the Lord that glows with in you. Love your companion more.  Listen to one another. Say I’m sorry, please forgive me.  Act as if you are a zone leader because to us….EVERYONE OF YOU IS A ZONE LEADER. Everyone is equal and great. I love you all and I know that we can do this together.  This is our time and our season. We will prepare.  And someday we will sit together and look back with great joy in the time that we had together working side by side in the Lord’s vineyard.

Love Sister Alba

Letter to the Missionaries 9-30-12

BELIEVE!

Dear Elders and Sisters,

It’s now been over a week since we had a visit from Elder Gavarett from the Seventy.  What a great experience it was for us to have a servant of the Lord right here with us in our mission.  As he arrived, both Sister Alba and I could feel a difference – especially as he stayed in the mission home and as he shared so many wonderful things with us that provided us with a greater sense of faith and belief.

Elder Gavarret is a very special servant of the Lord.  In the Doctrine and Covenants section 107 we read:

23.  “The twelve traveling councilors are called to be the Twelve Apostles, or special witnesses of the name of Christ in all the world – thus differing from other officers in the church in the duties of their calling.

24.  “And they form a quorum, equal in authority and power to the three presidents previously mentioned.

25.  “The Seventy are also called to preach the gospel, and to be especial witnesses unto the Gentiles and in all the world – thus differing from other officers in the church in the duties of their calling.

26.  “And they form a quorum, equal in authority to that of the Twelve special witnesses or Apostles just named.”

As part of his calling to be an especial witness, he testified and promised many things to us – including the charge for us to exercise more faith and to believe.  Is anything too great for the Lord?  If we truly believe that this is His work, we should not doubt that what we do and our commission is to represent Him here in our mission.

“Behold, I say unto you that whose believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.”  Mormon 9:21 (italics added)

Later in the same chapter verse 27 we learn:

“O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need.  Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him.

Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanliness; ask not, that you may consume it on your lusts, but ask with firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.”  Mormon 9:27-28.

Again, if we truly believe that we are on the Lord’s errand and that this truly is His work, “doubting nothing”, we are then entitled to ask the Father in the name of Christ and it shall be granted unto us.  As we dedicate ourselves to this work and our will becomes His will, nothing will be held from us because our desires will be pure and will be the same as God’s.  We must not doubt or despise not, or wonder not but we must hearken (listen and obey) unto the words of the Lord.  Whatsoever we stand in need doubting not but be believing, it shall be granted unto us.  I truly believe this and know that my faith is sufficient because my desires are the same as God’s.  He will grant unto us what we ask for – remember though, that it will be in His own time and His own season when He wills it.  It will surely come to pass after all we can do.

“Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you, my friends Sidney and Joseph (we could well place our own name here), your families are well; they are in my hands, (there are no better hands) and I will do with them as seemeth me good; for in me there is all power.”  D&C 100:1 (see the connection to 101?).

Then, the Lord makes an incredible declaration that truly applies to all of us here in the California Santa Rosa Mission:

2 Therefore, follow me, and listen to the counsel which I shall give unto you.

3 Behold, and lo, I have much people in this place, in the regions round about; and an effectual door shall be opened in the regions round about. . .

4 Therefore, I, the Lord, have suffered you to come unto this place; for thus it was expedient in me for the asalvation of souls.

 5 Therefore, verily I say unto you, lift up your voices unto this people; aspeak the thoughts that I shall put into your hearts, and you shall not be bconfounded before men;

For it shall be agiven you in the very hour, yea, in the very moment, what ye shall say.

But a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall declare whatsoever thing ye adeclare in my name, in solemnity of heart, in the spirit of meekness, in all things.

8 And I give unto you this promise, that inasmuch as ye do this the aHoly Ghost shall be shed forth in bearing record unto all things whatsoever ye shall say.”

Can any of us doubt the word of the Lord?  Can any of us wonder if what we are about is true?  Can any of us wonder if 101 is possible.  Can we all believe together?

Let us evaluate ourselves and ask if this is why we are here.  Let us recommit ourselves with greater faith, doubting not but be believing that the promises of the Lord will be fulfilled and the blessings he promises His righteous missionaries will come to pass.

Let us be more obedient, let us be more believing and trusting in the Lord – then work with every fiber of our being to make it happen – after all we can do.

My dear fellow servants, miracles are happening all around us and we will be the recipients of many more to come – all we need to do is obey, increase our faith and to believe that God will bless our efforts.  I believe this with all my heart and would that you believe as well!

I testify that we are in this great work – all together we are working and experiencing great miracles that will allow us to reach to the heavens and that God will grant unto us the desires of our hearts if we are ALL believers.

I love you, I respect you and trust that you will join in this great miracle that is about to happen.

One final word – BELIEVE.

Love,

President Alba
